Biography

Caroline was born in 1824, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Edward Meriwether Cason and his first wife Levica Gipson.

On 23 Nov 1843, in Jackson, she married Benjamin Morgan Mahanay. They settled in Jackson and had 5 children.

  4. Edward Perry Mahanay b. 1849 TN - d. 1912, TX, m1/wid. Martha Jane Coffey, m2/wid. Dora Tummins, m3. Ida Youngblood
  5. Millard Fillmore Mahanay b. 1853 MO - d. 1922 TX, m1/wid. Harriet Virginia Bridges, m2. Melissa Florence Bridges. His wives were sisters. He had children with both, so they were half-siblings and 1st cousins.

By 1853 they had moved from Tennessee to Gasconade, Missouri. It was here she passed away in 1854, age 29. The cause is unknown. She is buried at the Old Salem Cemetery.

Her sister Sarah married Benjamins brother Lloyd.
