Maria Castro is born around 1756 in Corleone, based on her reported age in 1807. According to the record of her marriage, Maria is the daughter of Giuseppe Castro and Antonina di Marta. The record of her death gives her mother's first name only, and probably incorrectly, as "Giuseppa."
Maria marries Gaetano Pomilla on 8 November 1772. Both her parents are living at this time.
Maria and Gaetano have at least thirteen children: Paolo (1775), Ciro (c. 1776), Sigismondo (c. 1778), Carmelo (1779), Nicolo' (1782), Giuseppa Maria (1785), Emmanuela (1786), Antonia (1789), Sigismonda (c. 1791), Calogero (1793), Lucia (1795), and two daughters named Bernarda (1797 and 1800).

The second daughter named Bernarda is born 7 April 1800 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Biagio and Maria Colajanni, son and mother.
Emmanuela marries Leoluca Guzzetta on 14 November 1805.
In the 1807 stato delle anime, Gaetano Pomilla, 59 (b. 1748), lives in la vanella, an alley, behind Santa Maria (esce la strada dietro di Santa Maria, ripiglia la vanella di sotto) with his wife Maria, 51 (b. 1756), and eight of their unmarried children: Ciro, 31 (b. 1776), Sigismondo, 29 (b. 1778), Carmelo, 27 (b. 1780), Antonina, 19 (b. 1788), Sigismonda, 16 (b. 1791), Calogero, 14 (b. 1793), Lucia, 12 (b. 1795), and Bernarda, 7 (b. 1800).

Sigismondo marries Teresa Mancuso on 27 December.
Lucia marries Vincenzo di Puma on 1 October 1815. Maria and Gaetano are both still living.
Maria is widowed in November 1817 when Gaetano dies at the reported age of 77.[7]
Maria dies as the widow of Gaetano, reportedly at around age 57 (b. 1765), on 13 December 1822. She is 66, based on her given age in the 1807 stato delle anime. This record calls her parents "Giuseppe and Giuseppa Castro."
Calogero marries Liboria Mustacchia on 2 April 1823. This record gives Calogero's surname as di Puma.
Ciro dies at age 60 (b. 1777) on 16 July 1837, at the height of the first recorded cholera outbreak in western Europe. This record does not mention whether Ciro has ever married.
