15th Battalion Partisan Rangers [also called 1st Battalion] was assembled during the early spring of 1863. After serving in General Cumming's Brigade at Mobile, the unit moved to Mississippi with about 350 effectives. Here it fought at King's Creek under General Ruggles. That summer it merged into the 56th Alabama Regiment Partisan Rangers. Major William Boyles was in command.
