Biography
David was born in 1789. David Chambers ... He passed away in 1838.
A few years ago, a display of a pioneer rifle, bullet, and mold in the Missouri State Capital Building bore the following statement: " Owned by David Chambers, born in Tennessee June 17, 1789. He married Rebecca McKinney February 12, 1812, and in 1822 came to Missouri with wife and three children, This gun was used to shoot bears and protect the family from Indians and other dangers. He gave it to David Chambers and David gave it to Rolla Johnson, the husband of the donor.

The book Texas County Missouri Heritage, Vol. 1 (pages 288-289) speculates that David and Joshua Chambers (who were part of the Tennessee party) were the sons of a James Chambers who remained in Tennessee. Findagrave also has information posted (from another user) about ANOTHER William Chambers (abt 1750-1840), also born in Virginia; she also makes mention of a will belonging to a William Chambers that lists his children's names. Information for the two Williams has become scrambled (looking at the current trees on Ancestry certainly bears that out), and if anyone has documents to support David's parentage, I'd love to see them!!
