Myron was born in New York in February, 1840. His father was a farmer, so he was undoubtedly raised on a farm. He registered for the Civil War draft in 1863, but there is no record that he served.[1]
When he was 31, he married Mary E. Ellis. She was 20.[2] It looks as though Myron brought his new bride home to his mother and father.[3] His father died in 1857, but they must still be living in his parents' home because in the 1860 Federal Census, his mother is Head of Household. Mary (Ellis) Chapel is not listed, so they are either separated or she has died. It's a large household, with many of Myron's younger siblings still at home, but there are two children that might be his and Mary's - Louisa (b. ca. 1852) and Ellen (b. ca. 1855). The children are not listed on the 1870 Federal Census.[4], Myron married Lottie (Charlotte A. Torry Chapel) on 5 Nov 1873.[5] By the 1880 Federal Census, they has a five-year old daughter named Letta R. (b. ca. 1875). About 1885, they had a son named Fern W. Chapel.[6]
Myron died at 50 years of age. He is listed as having been a farmer. He was buried with his family in the Evergreen cemetery in Genesee, Michigan.[7][8]
