Biography

Katheryn (Chappelle) Dixson is a part of US Black heritage.

Katheryn was born around 1928 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Dr. W.D. Chappelle and his wife Essie. In 1930 she was living with her parents and siblings in Columbia, South Carolina where her father was a physician.^[1]

Katheryn was a graduate of Fisk University and had a masters degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Michigan. She was on the faculty at Benedict College, Allen University and North Carolina Central University.^[2]

Katheryn married David Ryan Dixson in 1954 in Richland County, South Carolina.^[3]

She passed away in 1976 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was survived by her husband David, a son and two sisters.^[2]
