Biography

Rubin was born in Poland in 1884. He was the son of Morris Chawes and Minse Nudelman.^[1]

In Poland, Rubin (Ruben) worked as a tailor. He emigrated from Stettin (port of departure) to the United States, arriving at Ellis Island, New York, on June 15, 1892. ^{[2] [3] [4]}

Rubin married Bertha Fishman in 1905 in New York.^[5] Rubin was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on April 27, 1907, in New York. His address at that time was listed as "74 Forsyth St., N.Y.C.," and his occupation was listed as "Dealer-Woolens".^[6]

Rubin picked up his young brother-in-law Moses Fischmann when Moses arrived at Ellis Island, New York, on Nov. 15, 1907.^[7]. This implies that the maiden name of Rubin's spouse Bertha was "Fischmann".

Rubin passed away in 1964. ^[1]
