George is the son of Thomas E. Chewning and Saphronia Cash.

George W. Chewning married Georgia Ann Campbell on 11-1-1883 in DeKalb Co., Georgia.

In 1900, George W. and Georgia A. Chewning are living in District 637, DeKalb Co., Georgia with children: Belle, Sylus Grady, Aaron T., Effie May, Maud. Georgia's mother, Lucy-87, widowed, is also in the home.
