Evidence from census and genealogical records prove that the Child family traveled to Utah in 1851. They appear on the 1850 Iowa census. The first documentation to place them in Utah is the birth of a child 9 July 1852, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the name of the company they traveled with.
