Biography

Ruth Child, daughter of Jonathan and Abigail, was born in Grafton, Massachusetts in 1740. [1]

Ruth Child and Ezekiel Smith were married in Grafton Jan 6, 1763. [2]

They may have lived in Westborough, Massachusetts for some time as they were enrolled at that church before moving to Henniker. [3]

Ruth died in 1818, she was a widow by then. [4]

The History of the Town of Henniker [3] includes:

Ezekiel Smith married Ruth, daughter of Jonathan and Abigail Childs (sic) of Grafton, Massachusetts. They came to [Henniker] in the spring of 1767 and settled upon the farm. Ezekiel and Ruth were two of the original members of first church in Henniker, being dismissed from the church at Westborough, Massachusetts April 9, 1769. He died Feb 18, 1995 and she died Dec 29, 1818.
