Catherine “Kate” Loriette Child, daughter of David Lorenzo Child and Margaret L. Dysart, was born December 25, 1852 in Putnam Co., Illinois.^[1]

Catherine Child and William George Franceway married on March 10, 1880 in Putnam Co., Illinois.^[2]

The 1900 U.S. Federal Census records William Franceway, age 47 born August 1852 in Illinois, as a farmer living in Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois. In his household are his wife Katy L. age 47 born December 1852 in Illinois, daughter Maggie J. age 18 born January 1882, daughter Allie M. age 16 born October 1883, daughter Elsie S. age 7 born September 1892, son Clarence age 5 born January 1895, and brother James age 45 born November 1854. All were born in Illinois. William and Katy have been married for 19 years and she has borne six children with four still living.^[3]

The 1910 U.S. Federal Census records William G. Franceway, age 57 born in Illinois, as a farmer living in Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois. In his household are his wife Katherine L. age 57 born in Illinois, daughter Margaret J. age 28, daughter Alice M. age 26, daughter Elsie S. age 17, son Clarence W. age 15, brother James age 56, and a hired man Don F. Arnold. All were born in Illinois. William and Katherine have been married for 29 years and she has borne six children with four still living.^[4]

The 1920 U.S. Federal Census records George W. Franceway, age 68 born in IL, as a farmer living in Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois. In his household are his wife Cathryn age 68 born in IL, daughter Alice M. age 35, son Clarence age 25 and a servant Rena Zei age 21 born in Italy immigrated in 1919.^[5]

The 1930 U.S. Federal Census records Catherine Franceway, a widow age 76 born in IL, as head of household living in Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois. In her household is her daughter Alice M. age 46.^[6]

Catherine Loriette Child Franceway died December 20, 1934 and was buried in Granville Cemetery, Granville, Putnam Co., Illinois.^[7] The Records of the Granville, Cemetery indicate that her date of death was December 21, 1934 and the Illinois Statewide Death Index states date of death was December 20, 1934.
