Gladys Christie was born in 1892. She was the daughter of Henry Christie and Henrietta Bush.
Gladys married Dr Douglas Wilson in April 1918 at Christ Church, Whanganui. It was a lavish affair with a "crowded church, and the public was present in large numbers." The bride wore "a most beautiful wedding gown of fine white lace, embroidered with silver, with a silver tissue sash. She wore an exquisite court train of ninon, lined with the most delicate shade of pink. This, too, was embroidered with silver, and was lent by the bride’s sister, Mrs (Dr.) Earle." [1]
Tragically, Gladys passed away just seven months later, in the flu epidemic.
Her parents, who were deeply religious, gave a Brass Eagle Memorial Lectern to Christ Church, Whanganui in her memory.
Gladys is buried at Aramoho Cemetery, Whanganui, in the Christie family plot.[3]
