Biography

Jeremiah H. Chrysler:

Birth: Dec. 10, 1811 Ontario, Canada Death: Dec. 20, 1887 Republic County Kansas, USA

Yes, the tombstone says Chrysler instead of Crysler, but it's him. During his life he used at least 3 spellings of his name. But we know all were him, because of the names of his numerous children on each of his census pages. Some of those children would ultimately settle on one spelling and some on another.

Here is his obituary:

Died - Jeremiah H. Chrysler died at the residence of his son, Jerry H. Chrysler, in Big Bend tp., Republic county Kansas, Dec. 20, 1887, aged 76 years.

Grandpa Chrysler was born in Brantford, Canada, Dec. 10, 1811, and lived a busy, useful life until the meridian of his time was reached. The latter part of his life paid the penalty of too close application and sickness with many aches and pains. He was a resident of Kansas for some fifteen years. His wife and seven children survive him. - Hardy Herald.

Note: Brantford was a part of Wentworth County until Brant County was formed out of parts of Wentworth and Oxford Counties many years later. Also notice that it says 7 children survived him. His 8th and oldest son, John, had died in the Civil War.
