During the 1860 census Nancy is shown as Nancy Martingly. At home with her were 17 year old Nancy Martingly and 16 year old James B. Martingly. Based on the ages, these do not appear to have been her children. The 1870 census of Louisville, Clay County, Illinois shows her living alone but next door to her daughter Mary Jane Thompson.
