A story of James Clark, his wives Jane Cochran and Donna Grindstaff, and their family comes from the book "Jeremiah and Alexander Clark of North Carolina" published in 1997. The story follows with the author's (Robert Bradley Clark) permission.

"James B. Clark was born March 7, 1861 [October 2, 1860], near Valle Crucis, to James Wilburn Clark and Suzanne Lusk. He lived in Clarktown for many years then moved off the mountain where the land and the weather were better suited to farming. James died on September 15, 1942 [September 29, 1942]. His first wife was Jane Cochran. Jane was the daughter of Taylor Cochran and Delila Carver. Donna Grindstaff was the second wife of James Clark.
The children of James Clark and Jane Cochran were Jesse, Deeley, Josey, George, Sam, Silas, Ader, Ruth, Mary, and Lottie Clark. Jesse married Betty Miller. Dealey’s husband was John Arwood. Josey was married to Dave Hodge. George was married to Ethel McCurry, sister of Elvy McCurry. Sam died unmarried around 21 years of age. Silas married Elvy McCurry, sister of Ethel McCurry. Ader’s husband was Vick Campbell. Ruth married Raymond Jackson. Mary’s husband was Robert Byrd. Robert was the son of Hutson Byrd and Martha Woodby and a grandson to Blake Byrd and Caroline Clark. Lottie was married to Lee Woodby.
James Clark and Donna Grindstaff had a daughter named Bessie Clark. She married Robert Edward Clark." [3]
