Biography

Private John Clark died of wounds in France during World War I.

John was born between May and September 1895 in Wingate, Durham, England. He was the son of Ralph Clark and Isabella (Greenwood) Clark. John's birth was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1895 in the Easington district.^{[1] [2]}

In the 1901 census John (age 5) was the son of Isabella Clark on Front Street, Wingate, Castle Eden, Easington, Durham, England.^[3]

In the 1911 census John (age 15), School student, was the single son of Isabella Clark in Burn House Front St Wingate, Castle Eden, Durham, England.^[4]

John fought in World War 1. He was a private in the 6th Dragoons (Inniskilling) and his service number was N/16224. John died of wounds at the age of 22 on 4 April 1918 in France and is commemorated at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.^{[5] [6] [7][8]}
