Adolphus Clary lived in Virginia.
Adolphus Manning Clary was born on May 4, 1857 in Brunswick County, Virginia, United States, son of William J Clary (1822–1890) and Sarah A Lynch (1827–1900).
In 1860, Adolphus (3) was living in Meherrin Parish, Brunswick with his parents, William (38) and Sarah A P (30); and his sister, Henrietta (5). [1]
Adolphus (20) married Georgia Anna Edmonds (16) (born on December 14, 1860 in Brunswick County, USA) on December 12, 1877 in Brunswick.[2] Their children were:
- Sidney Adolphus Lewis Edmonds (1879–1900)
- Nanna Jane Clary (1881–1925)
- Henrietta Clary (1883–1950)
- George Edward Clary (1886–1968)
- William C Clary (1888–1975)
- Lida Ann Clary (1891–1975)
- Carrie Mae Edmonds (1893–1952)
In 1880, Adolphus (23) was living in Powellton, Brunswick with his wife, Georgiana (22); and their son, Sydney A. (1). [3]
In 1900, Adolphus (43) was living in Meherrin District, Brunswick with his wife, Georgie (40); and their children, Edward (15), William C (18), Eliza A (9), Carry M (7), Joseph E (4), and Richard A (1). [4]
In 1910, Adolphus (53) was living in Meherrin, Brunswick with his wife, Georgie (49); their children, Chester (21), Josie (13), Richard (10), and Artur (8); and Liza Edmond (82, mother-in-law), and Charlie Lynch (49, boarder). [5]
In 1920, Adolphus (63) was living in Brunswick with his wife, Georgia A (59); and Sidney Clory (19, grandchild). [6]
In 1930, Adolphus (73) was living in Meherrin, Brunswick with his wife, Georgie (69); and Eaton House (29, lodger). [7]
In 1940, Adolphus (83) was living in household of G E Clary (53) in Meherrin Magisterial District, Brunswick with his son, G E (53); and Julia M Clary (55, daughter-in-law), Eva Clary (26, granddaughter), Herbert Clary (21, grandson), Roy Clary (19, grandson), and Maltie Lee Clary (15, granddaughter). Adolphus died on April 27, 1945 in Brunswick County, aged 87. He was buried in Clary Cemetery, Gasburg, Brunswick County, Virginia. Adolphus was a retired farmer. [9] [10]
