He is called Waldo Clawson in the 1900 U.S. Census, which recorded 55-year-old Ferman W. Clawson in Royal Oak, Michigan, with wife Mary Clawson, 58, and five unmarried children. Ferman and Mary were natives of New York, with parents born in New York, who had been married 34 years; Mary had had five children, all of them still living. Ferman was described as a doctor; his birth date was recorded as March 1845. Children in the household were daughter Ina, age 25 (born March 1875); daughter Edith, 19 (born August 1880); daughter Edna, 15 (born October 1884); son Waldo, 12 (born March 1888); and daughter Louise, 9 (born August 1890). All of the children were born in Michigan to parents born in New York; all were "at school."[2]

Edith and Edna were public school teachers, Louise had attended school that year, and Loyd was a farmer. Fruian and Mary had been married 44 years; Mary had had five children, all living.[3]
Henry Lloyd Clawson, age 29 and working in real estate, married La Vallie Herzog, age 28, in Detroit on 30 June 1917. Both were born in Michigan and current residents of Detroit; neither had been married previously. His parents were Firman and Mary Clawson; her parents were August and Adelaide Herzog. The marriage officiant was J. G. Doherty, pastor; witnesses were C. B. Randall and Madeline Wright.[4]
He was living in Royal Oak, Michigan, in 1949 when he was informant for his sister Edna's death certificate.
