Biography

Marriage

27 Nov 1856 Elizabeth Ann Clayton married Henry Smith Liverpool, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom

  • Father's Name: John Smith
  • Father's Gender:

Spouse's Marital Status: Single

  • Spouse's Father's Name: George Clayton[1]

The 1851 census has an Ann Clayton (aged 18) working as a servant at 189 Gt Homer St. As both her parents had died when she was only13, this could well have been my 2xgt grandmother Elizabeth Ann Clayton.

On 26/9/1857 my 2X gt Grandmother was at 21 Corbett Street, West Derby, Liverpool giving birth to her first child.

In the 1881 census Elizabeth, now widowed, was at 24 Abbott St, Everton. with her children and grandchild Thomas HenryTear. Thomas was the product of her daughter Alice's marriage to Thomas Tear, a Steward (not on the census so presumably away at sea).

Marriage Dec Qtr 1856, Liverpool, 8b 89 Her marriage certificate gives her father as George Clayton, so this was probably the Elizabeth Ann Clayton c.10/3/1834 at St Peter's church, Liverpool. Daughter of George and Martha.
