Biography

Rachel Jane Cleghorn was born in 1824 in Dunino, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom, daughter of Peter Cleghorn (1784–1863).[1] She was baptised on August 18, 1824.[1]

Rachel (25) married Alexander Sprot (27) (born in 1822; son of Mark Sprot and Harriet (Hill) Sprot) on September 17, 1850 in Dunino.[2] Their son was Alexander Sprot 1st Bart of Garnkirk (1853–1929).

In the 1861 census Rachel Jane Sprot (age 30) was the widowed head of household in Playfair Terrace, St Andrews(Fife), St Andrews & St Leonards, Fife, Scotland.[3]
