At the time of her birth in 1906, Margaret 's parents lived at 14 Clara Street in Belfast. Margaret's brother James Montgomery Cleland died at age 10 in 1907 from an epidemic of cerebrospinal meningitis.
The 1911 Ireland Census finds Margaret living at 5 Emerald Street in Belfast with her parents and siblings. Her parents continued to live at same address until their deaths in 1932 and 1947.
