Biography

Ann was baptised in Alberbury, Shropshire on 21st June 1801. She was married in January 1828. She and her husband had a little pub on the main road in Coedway. The pub was previously owned by Ann's parents, and in the Census returns for 1841 her mother was still described as a Publican at the age of 70. (See - Wales Census, 1841, for Bausley.) It was still there when I visited in year 2000. It was called "Ye Olde Hand & Diamond"^[1]

• 1841 Wales Census - Township of Bausley. PRO reference HO 107/1434/1. This entry includes her 86-year old mother, described as a Retired Innkeeper. Also shows William Ellis 40, his wife Ann 35, and five Ellis children.
