Biography

Jeremiah Wesley Clonts was born in North Carolina. He married first, Mary Ellen Jane Polk. They had three children Elizabeth Jane Clonts King, Thomas C. Clonts, and Charles Wesley Clonts. He then married Mary Green of Coweta County, Georgia. He died in 1864 in Jonesboro, Clayton County Ga. during the Civl War.

Research Notes

I haven't been able to confirm that Jeremiah was in Co. F of the 40th Ga. Regt. Infantry. There are several other Clonts soldiers in this same Regiment as they mustered from Paulding Co. Ga. They were all captured at Vicksburg on March 4, 1862 and paroled in July, 1863. More research is needed.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jeremiah by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jeremiah:
