On 23rd December, 1935, Arthur William Clune, known as Newby, Stonemason, said he was 26, born Gladesville, the son of Joseph Michael Clune, (dead) and Adelaide Cooper. On this date, he married divorcee Laurel Una Mitchell, Stenographer, 23, born Bondi, the daughter of Leonard Augustus Downie, Engineer, and Ida Follent. The Church of England ceremony was held St. Stephen's, Newtown, before witnesses Emily Lane and Stuart Robinson. [1]
