In 1804, James removed to Martinsburgh, settling on West Road beside Roaring Brook. The house he built was still standing in 1927, when his GGrandchildren visited there.
In the War of 1812, James served in the New York State militia. He enlisted at Martinsburgh and was discharged at Sackets Harbor, service one month in 1814, serving under CPT McKnight, CPT Abner Clapp and MAJ or COL Collins. 2 Service records 167825, 47308.
Buried: 1855 in Martinsburg, Lewis, New York, United States.
