John and Rebecca married in Wishbech Cambridgeshire. [4]
John COATS emigrated to Australia with his new wife Rebecca and his family and arrived in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia on 19 FEB 1852, aboard the Amazon.
After arriving and marrying in SA, they later moved to Avoca, Victoria. John and Josiah and their wives worked the goldfields and later moved to Natte Yallock and worked as farmers in partnership. John, Josiah and their familities were the first white settlers at Avoca. John and Rebecca had six children. [5]
John died on 25 SEP 1874 at Moonambel, Victoria, Australia.[6]
