Frances May Cockburn was born on about 19 May 1859. She was the youngest daughter of Barrister and Canadian Politician James Cockburn and Isabella Patterson[1].
Sadly her husband Edmund died on 2 October 1880 at the age of 32. Their only son, Edmund James Dalrympe Clark, was born three months after his death, on 16 January 1881.
Frances was 28 years of age when she married, secondly, 30 year old Barrister William Durie Gwynne on 20 September 1887 at St. George's Church, Ottawa, Canada[3]:

GWYNNE-CLARK- At St. George's church, Ottawa, on Tuesday, the 20th Sept. inst., by the Rev. H. Grasett Baldwin, assisted by the Rev. Owen Jones, William Gwynne, barrister, to Maye widow of the late Captain Dalrymple Clark, and youngest daughter of the late Hon. James Cockburn.[4]
They went on to have at least three children.
In the 1901 Census of Canada, Francis M Gwynne (aged 41) was recorded living with her second husband William D Gwynne (43), her son Edmond I D Clark (20), and her three children with her husband; Nora D Gwynne (12), John N Gwynne (11) and Sophie M Gwynne (8) in Ontario. Also in the household was one servant.
By 1921, May Gwynne (aged 62) was recorded living with her husband William Gwynne (63) and their daughter Sophie M Gwynne (26) at 27 Dunbar Road, Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.
