Biography

Charles was born in 1878 in Plymouth, Devon.^[1] He was the son of Edward Coffin and Elizabeth Adey.^[2]

In 1900 he married Florence Mabel Phillips in Plymouth.^[3] In the 1901 England and Wales Census, they were recorded living in Plymouth, where Charles worked as a shipping clerk. Florence's widowed mother and two siblings lived with them.^[4] By the 1911 Census, they had a son, Charles (9).^[5]
