Biography

Stair John Gordon Colbey was born on 14th February 1910 in Pulteney Street, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. He was the third child of Reginald Colbey and Agnes Sabey.[1]

Stair Colbey is a Military Veteran.
Served in the 2nd Australian Imperial Force 1939-1939
2/10th Australian Infantry Battalion

Stair served in the 2nd Australian Imperial Force during the Second World War; enlisted 20th October 1939, discharged 16th December 1939.[2] He was a member of the 2/10th Australian Infantry Battalion.[3] Following his discharge from the 2nd AIF, Stair enlisted in the Australian Army on 22nd December 1939.[4] Stair's Unit and discharge date are not known.[5]

He married Janet Edwards on 18th May 1940 in Pirie Street Methodist Church, Adelaide, South Australia.

EDWARDS —COLBEY. —The marriage of Janet, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Edwards, 27 Asquith street, Prospect Gardens, to Stair, third son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. G. Colbey, Gumeracha, will be solemnised at Pirie street Methodist Church on the 18th of May, at 7 p.m.

He passed away on 25th June 1988 at Loxton, South Australia and was cremated at Enfield Crematorium with his ashes interred in Loxton Cemetery, South Australia.[6]
