Pearl was born in 1925. She was the daughter of Silas Colby and Catherine Rathbun. She passed away in 1998.
Watertown Daily Times (NY) - December 15, 1998 Pearl H. Austin, 73, of Brasher Falls, died Sunday evening in Massena Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Austin was a homemaker.
Born May 20, 1925, in Brasher Falls, a daughter of Silas and Katherine Rathburn Colby, she attended Brasher-Stockholm High School and married Walter J. Gardner on June 5, 1944, at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. John Cotter presiding. The marriage ended in divorce. She married John A. Austin of Tupper Lake in 1982 in Lawrenceville.
Surviving besides her husband are four sons, John M. Colby, Brasher Falls, Larry Gardner, Massena, Bobby Gardner, pennsylvania, and Richard Gardner, Albany; three daughters, Lillie Gardner and Ann Camp, both of Farmington,and Mary Lou Kipp, Canandaigua; five stepdaughters, Marylou McAffrey, Eileen Bernarski, Arlene Campbell and Louise Sweet, all of Malone, and Diane Frye, Indian Lake; a sister, Ruth LaFleur, Winthrop; 36 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A stepdaughter, Genevieve Austin, and a brother, Percy Colby, died before her.
