Biography

Belinda Cole was born in 1750, a daughter of Abraham Cole and Rebecca Berry. Belinda married William Stansbury Jr (1746-1825). Children of Belinda and William are:

  • Abraham Stansbury, born July 4, 1769, died April 1, 1855,, married 1) Rebecca L Stevenson, born April 3, 1776, and 2) Elizabeth Whitaker
  • Elijah Stansbury, born 1771, died 1813, in Jefferson, Ohio, married Elizabeth Ake
  • Daniel Stansbury, born September 24, 1772, died before October 24, 1825, in Frederick county, Maryland, married Mary Ann Dawes
  • Micajah Stansbury, born July 14, 1773, died July 14, 1858, married Mary Magdalen Shauck
  • Elizabeth Stansbury, died March 20, 1852, in Carroll county, Maryland, married 1) Joshua Stevenson, on June 17, 1803, in Frederick, Maryland and 2) Samuel Devilbliss, on October 4, 1827
  • Belinda Stansbury, born circa 1777, died before August 20, 1824, in Baltimore, Maryland, married Wilhelm Mumma, on September 5, 1816, in Baltimore, Maryland
  • William Stansbury, III, born circa 1779, died before the date of his father's Will. His four children are remembered in his father's Will
  • Ann Stansbury, born 1781, died March 31, 1871, married Vickers Sprowl in March of 1811 in Baltimore, Maryland
  • Sarah Stansbury, born February 7, 1783, died August 7, 1834, married Josiah Brown, on November 18, 1805, in Frederick, Maryland
  • Ruth Stansbury, born circa 1788, in Baltimore, married Nicholas Hall Brown, on June 5, 1809, in Frederick, Maryland
  • Charity Stansbury, born 1792, died January 7, 1868, married William C. Alderson. In 1830 they divorced and Charity took back her maiden name

William Stansbury, Jr. died July 15, 1825, and is buried in the cemetery of the historic Taylors Chapel, in Baltimore, Maryland. Belinda (Cole) Stansbury died April 7, 1830, and is buried with him. There are photographs of her headstone on her Find A Grave memorial. [1]
