When Violet Lanell Collett was born on September 16, 1920, in Canton, Georgia, her father, John, was 27, and her mother, Mary, was 24.^[1] She had three brothers and one sister and was the wife of John Payne Knight. John died in 1985 and Violet died on November 15, 2004,^[2] in Cartersville, Georgia, at the age of 84.^[3]
