Biography

Mary was born 11 Nov 1786. She passed away before 1840. On the 1830 census for Greene Co AL, in Chesley Abernathy's household is a women in the age range of 40-49; on the 1840 census for Rankin Co MS, Chesley is enumerated with no females in the household.

While documentation of Mary's mother Rachel's maiden name actually being Rainer/Rayner/Raynor has not been found to date, the Bible record of Mary's great-granddaughter, Henrietta Ann Flanagan Moore, shows that her grandmother - who would be Mary's daughter - was named Rachel Raynor Abernathy (married John Fletcher Seymour).

The following indented, italicized text is a transcript of a Bible record submitted with a DAR application.[1] The Bible appears to have belonged to William Collier, since the record goes on to name his children's births and deaths. The record itself is a transcript from an original Bible, the transcript being made in the early 1970's (the notary public's term expires 1975):

The following list of names and dates of birth and death are a true and exact copy as taken from the Collier family Bible. The Bible is in the possession of Mr. Bob Connor of Orangeburg County, South Carolina. I Ray Collier, personally made this transcript from the Bible.
