John Collihole was born on 28 July 1872 in Strangways, Victoria, Australia, son of Mary Ann (Cusack) Collihole and John Collihole.^[1]

He married Rose Crocker Tangey in 1897 in Castlemaine, Victoria.^[2] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
