Biography
George Colpus was born about 1840 in Farncombe. He was christened on 15 Apr 1840 at the church of St Peter and St Paul in Godalming (Anglican). He was the son of Frederick and Hannah Colpus. His father was a labourer.
George became a coal merchant. He married Elizabeth Bentley in 1869 in Guildford district.
George died 2 Sep 1914 at The County Asylum, Brookwood, Surrey, aged 74. He was buried in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the unconsecrated section.
Elizabeth died 28 May 1920 at her home in George Street, Farncombe, Godalming, aged 78. She was buried on June 2nd in the same grave as her husband.
