Biography

Robert Colvile, Esq was the son of Elizabeth Acton and Richard Colvile of Newton Colvile. He was born in 1763. His mother was the daughter of Nathaniel Acton, Esq of Bramford Hall in Suffolk.

Robert was his father's heir and inherited Newton Colvile Manor.

He married in 1786 to Amelia Angelina Asgill in St Marlybone in London by Special Licence.^[1] His wife was the eldest daughter of Sir Charles Asgill, Bart., former banker, merchant, and former Lord Mayor of London.

The couple had four sons.

1. Charles Henry Colvile (heir) b.1789 ^[2]
2. Frederic Charles Acton Colvile b.1792
3. Augustus Asgill Colvile b.1794
4. Robert Henry Colvile b.1795

He sold the manor of Newton in 1792.

Robert Colvile died in 1799 in Wiltshire, and is buried at Saint Gregory Churchyard.^[3]
