Elizabeth Connelly was charged with some crime and transported to Australia on the ship Francis for 7 years. She arrived 8th August 1815 and transported to Parramatta to work as a factory or in home servant. By 1822 Elizabeth was probably free. In that year she petitioned unsuccessfully to have James Roberts freed and assigned to her. In 1825 she petitioned again for James Roberts freedom along with a William bowman (his employer) on his character and in 1825 James was granted a ticket of leave. He remained on Stone Hill farm until his death 1835. Elizabeth continued to live at Stone Hill Farm until she died in 1868 at the age of 78. James and Elizabeth are both buried at Sutton Forest Anglican Church section. Grave stones have disintegrated.
She appears to have married Edward Dempsey in 1815 and then Married James Roberts in 1819. Perhaps Edward died??
Elizabeth's father was possibly Edward Connelly and mother Mary A.
I was curious about William Bowman. Must have been a decent man as the Roberts stayed working for William until their deaths. I think that William was born in Scotland and immigrated to Australia age 4. He purchased land at Sutton Forest which matches the location of both James and Elizabeth's death location of Berrima NSW.
