Louine Vera Loumena died on July 1, 2009, at age 94.
She was born Louine Vera Cooke on Nov. 18, 1914, in Damascus, to parents Fred and Bertha Cooke, and was raised in Oregon City, where she graduated from high school in 1931.
She was the owner of A-1 Garage from 1936 to 1956, and Rainbow Disposal from 1957 to 1975. She was also a tour leader for the Gresham Senior Center.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by: sons, Jim and his wife Pat Svihla and Larry and his wife Jan; daughter, Cherie Loumena; son-in-law, Jim McClure; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Her daughter, Charlene McClure, preceded her in death. A service is scheduled for July 8, 2009, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 2310 SE 148th Ave., Portland 97233.
