Biography

Farmed at "Brookfield" Esk Valley, having taken over the farm when his father retired to Timaru.

Married Louisa Catherine Cross & they had 5 children.

His eldest son Alexander (Sandy) become Farm manager for the 5 UK farms of Lord Beaverbrook, & wrote "The Press Baron & the Kiwi" detailing his experiences in that role.

PRESS, VOLUME LXXIII, ISSUE 22094, 17 MAY 1937, PAGE 1 COPLAND—On May 15, 1937 at Christchurch, Alexander McCombie dearly loved husband of Louisa Catherine Copland, “Brookfield.” St Andrews, Timaru; aged 52 years.[1]
