Biography

Jane was born in 1840 in Macon Co., NC. She was the daughter of John Corbin and Nancy McClure. ^[1] Jane died in 1915 and was buried at Philadelphia Cemetery, Blairsville, Union Co., GA. ^[2]

Jane married in 1859 in Macon Co., NC, to William P. Mashburn. ^[3]

Family

John Corbin [Jane's father] died intestate in 1891 in Macon Co., NC. Loose records associated with his estate are on file at the North Carolina State Archives, Raleigh. ^[1] That file contains an Application for Letters of Administration that reads:

Macon County--In the Superior Court, in the matter of the estate of John Corbin, Before Saml. L. Rogers, Clerk of the Superior Court. John L. Corbin, being sworn, doth say: That John Corbin, late of said County, is dead, without leaving any WILL and TESTAMENT, and the he by request of the heirs is the proper person entitled to Letters of Administration on the estate of the said John Corbin. Further, that the value of said estate, so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application, is about $200.00, and that J. M. Corbin, L. H. Corbin, P. P. Corbin, Vian Dills, Jane Mashburn, Wm. Corbin's heirs, A. Holland's heirs, Clarinda Fox, Modena Corbin's heirs are entitled as heirs and distributees thereof. Sworn to and subscribed before me this 24 day of Aug 1891, Saml. L. Rogers, Clerk of the Superior Court. Jno. L. Corbin.
