Biography

Frederick Cordukes was born on 12 March 1860 in Sheriff Hutton, Yorkshire, England, son of Joseph Cordukes (1824–1889) and Anne Stables (<1830–1891).[1]

In the 1871 census Frederick (age 11) was the son of Joseph Cordukes in Haxby, Yorkshire, England.[2]

In 1880-81, Frederick was living in Patea and was a farmer.[3]

Frederick did not marry.

He is said to be the first postmaster in Paraparaumu and established the Methodist church in Paraparaumu and was the Sunday School teacher .[4][5]

Frederick departed on 26 September 1924 England on the Maloja heading to Wellington. [6]

Frederick died on 8 March 1929 in Otaki, Wellington, New Zealand, aged 68.[7] He was buried in Paraparaumu Beach Cemetery, Wellington. Frederick left a will and after making some charitable donations the remaining balance of his estate was left to his nieces and nephew Mary Addinell (abt.1898-1992), Lucy (Addinell) Sutherland (1899-1977) and William Ewart Addinell (1901-1995).
