Born Philip Darrell Core, this English singer was better known by the stage name of David Garrick.
He trained to be an opera singer in Milan, Italy for two years before returning to his hometown of Liverpool where is frequently gigged at the Cavern Club earning him the nickname "The Opera Singer".
"The Kinks" manager, Robert Wace, named him after the 18th-century actor and playwright.
His most popular recording was, "Dear Mrs. Applebee" in 1966.
