Biography
William Cornelison served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: Aug 23, 1864 Mustered out: Aug 22, 1865 Side: USA
William was born in 1848 to Jesse Garrett Cornelison and Delany Holdaway. He was born in Illinois but around the time of his birth, his parents separated, and his mother took him to Missouri to live with her family. His father, Jesse, also moved to Missouri. In 1862 Jesse was sitting on his porch and killed by Confederate soldiers. William was 14 at the time. Two years later, he lied about his age and enlisted in the US Army.
William lived in Missouri the rest of his life, marrying at age 21. He passed away in 1914 at 66 years old.
