1.2.6.9.3.3 (140) JACOB COSAT:
(Peter 125; Francis 103; David 8; Jacques 3; Jacques 1).

Jacob Cosat, son of Peter and Maria (Durie) Cossart, was born in York (now Adams) County, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1773; married August 10, 1797 (or August 9, 1798) to Margaret Comingore of Kentucky. Jacob accompanied his parents from the Conewago Valley Settlement to Kentucky about 1780.

After the death of his father he accompanied his mother and brothers to Warren County, Ohio, where he remained for a time and then returned to Kentucky near Harrodsburg. It is believed that he lived on the land purchased by his father. Jacob was a minister in the Campbelite (Christian) Church. He is one of the children mentioned in his Aunt Christina's will in 1801.

Rev. Jacob was married to Margaret (Peggy) Comingore by the Rev. Sutton, on August 10, l797, in Mercer County, Kentucky. (Reference: Historical Records of Kentucky, Volume 21—3). He was named for his uncle Jacob Cassat (126).

Jacob died at Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky, on September 10, 1822. There were eleven children to this union.
