Solomon Cotton was born in Aug 1865 in Russia. On his Social Security Application, Solomon lists his father as Barnard Cotton.[1] According to census records, he immigrated to America about 1894,[2][3][4] and settled in Worcester, Massachusetts. About 1887, Solomon married Sarah Gersonovitz / Gershenovitz.[2]

Solomon and Sarah had eight children:[2][3]

Solomon became a naturalized citizen of the United States on 17 Oct 1900.[5]

Solomon died in Worcester on 14 Apr 1946 at the age of 80.[6] He was buried at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery in Auburn, Massachusetts. [7]

Research Notes

There was an Israel D. Cotton who died 15 July 1905 (aged 22) in Worchester, Mass. His death certificate lists his place of birth as Russia, his father as Barnard Cotton of Russia, and his mother as Bluma Gordon, also of Russia. The informant is listed as Father. B. Cotton.[8]

This is the only Solomon Cotton found in the 1900 Census for Worcester:
