Anselme Cottreau is a descendant of an Acadian

Anselme "Gros Sam" Cottreau was the son of Jacques Francois Cottreau and Monique Agnes Comeau.[1]
He was born May 3, 1872 in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia[2] [3], and was baptised May 5, 1872 at St. Michael's[1] in Tusket Wedge.[3]
He grew up in the family home located on the road leading to La Butte de la Croix in Tusket Wedge.[4] [3]
He was a fisherman by trade.[1]
He married Marie Francoise Adelta LeBlanc, the daughter of Frederic LeBlanc and Johanna Burridge, on November 19, 1907 at St. Michael's.[1]
The couple settled into the home he had built on the East Road in Tusket Wedge[4] [3] where they raised their family of 7 children[1]:

4. Frederic Delbert born in 1913[7]

Anselme presumably drowned when he was lost from his dory on November 28, 1941 off the coast of Seal Island, Nova Scotia while a crew member aboard the "J.M. Marshall".[9]. His name is listed on the Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial in Gloucester, Massachusetts.[1]
