James, son of James Coutts & Isabel Ironside, was born on 16 March 1836 in Methlick, Aberdeen, Scotland.[1]
In the 1861 census James (age 25), Guarry Labourer, was the lodger of William Adam in Loanend, Kemnay, Aberdeenshire.[2]
James married Christian Milne on 17 March 1862 in New Deer, Aberdeen, Scotland.[3]
In the 1871 census James (age 36), Agricultural Labourer, was the head of household in Parkhill, Monquhitter, Aberdeenshire.[4]
Research Notes
1871 Census seems to match the profile because of birthplace, but the wife is different than the spouse in the profile and in the 1871 census. There is also a son John, that would match the linked child, which has a different person linked as mother. Since a child is listed in 1871 as a Step Daughter, it would seem that Jane is a 2nd wife and was married previously.
Marriage to Christian Milne may also be a different James Couts.
