JULIA MAY COX, daughter of John William Cox and Loral May Rubert, was born 26 February 1913 was likely born at home in Elwood, Madison County, Indiana, USA.[1]
Julia's father died from tuberculosis and she and her brother, Donald William Cox, were left fatherless until her mother remarried.
A marriage license was issued in Madison County, Indiana on 24 August 1932 to Charles S. Hancock and Julia Mae (sic) Cox. The couple planned to be married in the minister's home, but Julia wanted to get married in the church, so they walked over to the Pilgrim Holiness Church to marry. They were married by W. J. Crider and witnesses included Mrs. W. J. Crider and Charles's paternal grandmother, Mary Ann Ele (aka Mary Ann (Reed) Hancock-Bruner-Ele-Franks). [2][3] That night they were given a chivaree/shivaree. [4]
Julia died 28 June 1979 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana, USA.
