OBITUARY. In common with other parts of the State the recent, heat wave was felt severely here, especially by the aged. Another old resident has lately passed away at an advanced age, after a short illness, in the person of Mrs. Elizabeth Cox. The deceased lady was a colonist of 46 years, 41 of which were spent in McHarg's Creek and Ashbourne districts. Mrs. Cox survived her late husband nearly seven years. She was taken ill on Saturday, Jan. 6th, and passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 14th. Her sudden death came as a great shock to many of her friends and neighbours. She was a general favourite throughout the neighbourhood on account of her bright lively disposition. Mrs. Cox had reached the age of 75 years and was extremely alert and active for her age. The funeral took place on Monday, Jan. 15, and despite the heat was well attended ; friends from distant parts came to pay their last tribute to this dead; and wreathes of immortelles and other floral tributes were placed on the grave by sympathising friends. Mrs. Cox leaves two sons and two daughters. Messrs. W. H. and A. E. Cox, of Ashbourne, and Mrs. Cohen, of Melbourne, and Mrs. Edgar, of Adelaide, and six grandchildren to mourn her loss. Her daughters were on their annual visit to the old home when their mother was taken ill, so they attended her in her last illness.
