Joseph William "J. W." "Bill" Cox, son of Edward and Polly Cox, was born about Oct. 1835 in South Carolina or Georgia.[1] He appeared on the census of 26 Oct. 1850 in the home of his parents at McLemore Cove, Walker County, Georgia.[2]
He married Mary Frances Miller, daughter of William Goodwin Miller and Sarah (Glasson) Miller, on 8 Feb. 1855 at Walton County, Georgia.[3][1]
He was a farmer when he and Mary appeared on the census of 18 June 1860 at Gwinnett County, Georgia. Her father was living with them.[4]
Joseph died in 1919 at Cleburne County, Alabama and was buried at Hurricane Methodist Cemetery, Cleburne County, Alabama. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[1]
